WHY THE GTS RATING SYSTEM
Did you know that only 10% of golfers in the USA have an official handicap and less than 5% of Canadians golfers! A player only has to post ONE ROUND per year to have an official handicap. What about the remaining 90%? The Golf Tier Rating System was created by golf professionals so the remaining 90% of players could play in a league matching their skill. Levels 1.0 and 1.5 are new to play. levels 2.0 and 2.5 are usually regular playing golfers that know how to play safe, play ready golf, understand the etiquette and how to keep score. These golfers score between 105 and 90. Levels 3.0 and 4.0 are the competitive golfers who should know more about the definitions and rules of golf. These golfer score between 90 and 75 on average. levels 5.0 and 6.0 are elite players either golf professionals or training for any worldwide tour.
